Strictly an amateur "hummer and strummer" ... been attempting to learn guitar for about ... oh .. 45 years now.
In the younger days I liked the electrics ... still do ... but have found myself gravitating more and more to the acoustic side of the house.

Ok, I'll dive in. Started in '63 or so. Heard this old band called the Beatles and just had to get in on this! First band was The Myst. Did pretty well for a bunch of adolescents. Took 4th place in the state battle of the bands. Check out The Myst at www.myfirstband.com. Can't believe I was that thin once. I'm the one with the Vox 335. Don't want to know what that would be worth today. Did some acoustic duo stuff in college. Mostly war protest type stuff. Got married and kissed rock'n'roll goodbye. (Didn't we all?) Got back into the game back in '88. I met Mark Farner from Grand Funk and got a chance to hang out with him on his tour bus for a few hours. He was extremely influencial in convincing me to get back into music. Played guitar and keyboards for a few bands for awhile Switched over to bass in '99 or so. Figured it was easier to get a gig as a bass player. Played with a number of bands until this current gig came along. Been playing bass for the band "Connected" for the last five years now. Love this band and have no desires to leave it but if anyone needs a fill-in bass player for a gig, call me. I'm told I'm a helluva bass player but you be the judge. Don't have any hope of any sort of lead guitar work any more. Lost half my left index finger last year. No problem with bass but gets a little tough trying do guitar licks. I'm still a decent rhythm player but the days of smokin' solos are over. That's way too much for me. Hope to see some other posts here. Be good to catch with other local musicians. Papa John

Hello to all. Nice forum. My musical capabilities are limited, but still practicing. Currently I have a 2000 Gibson Dobro, a gift from a local music store, and a Peavey ACBXP Millennium bass. The bass plugs into a Peavey max series 115 amp, which can bump the house off it's foundation. Unfortunately I'm from the tab era of learning, but it's still fun. Looking forward to learning from some experts around here.

I've been playing since I was twelve and that's 37 years ago tomorrow I'm still a hack but the one thing I have learned is that guitar players are a dime a dozen, there is always someone better and there is always someone worse. As long as it makes you happy that's all that matters!
