Just checking out the old forum,ah Freddie King, saw him at the old Paul"s Mall/Jazz workshop on Boylston St downtown, his fender quad reverb blew the roof off the joint.Bought him a drink, shook his hand and talked for abit about the blues,he was a gentlemen. He was wearing a gold lame"jumpsuit with a beltbuckle shaped like the state of texas almost as big as texas,I usually ask my guitar heros for a pick for some of their mojo to rub off on me ,but we know Freddie used a thumbpick with 2 fingerpicks so no go,but from 10 feet from the stage was enough,if its too loud you are too old haha,Marty

Sylvan Wells (a walking encyclopedia on the music industry, guitars and players) pointed out something I never realized. Many, if not most, of Eric Clapton's guitar licks are virtually identical to those originally done by Freddy King. Not to diminish Clapton's playing at all, but Freddy King was a major influence on Clapton. King was also an excellent vocalist ... he just never got the recognition.

"King was also an excellent vocalist ... he just never got the recognition."
Yeah, there are obviously some exceptions, but most blues players don't.
