would it be advantageous to put a bone nut on a korean made epiphone casino? would i notice much of a difference in tone and/or sustain compared to stock plastic nut?
just wondering...thanks.

A bone nut will give you the best possible tonal advantages. I suspect that you would not hear much of a difference but the longevity of a bone nut would be very advantageous.

Agreed-and you should also consider replacing the bridge saddle-which is probably also plastic with one made of bone. While you are at it, have one made that is intonated. Replacing a plastic nut / saddle pair with bone WILL make a difference in the sound. You will get faster peaking of the note and somewhat improved sustain.
